 | The 907th RAID become 2 seperate groups. | |
Posted by: Custer on 2008-07-19 13:55:26 On August 1st, 2008 the 907th RAID as it has been known for the last 7 years will cease to exist.
For years the 907th was a Day of Defeat only group. After a long wait on Day of Defeat:Source to be released the group switched over to Source. Many of us were disenchanted with Day of Defeat:Source after playing it for a bit. For some of the group Source did not live up to it's billing and was just Day of Defeat, only prettier. Another part of the group embraced Source and still plays it today.
For that reason, and the fact that the vision and purpose of the Guild has changed between the 2 groups, we have decided to become 2 seperate groups.
Many of the founding and long time members of the 907th are the ones exploring other games and that part of the Guild will still be known as the 907th and will have a totally new and redesigned web site and forums that will still be located at www.907th.com
The 907th is playing COD 4 at the moment and has a new Public Server located in Washington DC.
The new Server IP is 208.43.83.224:28960
All are welcome to join us!
The part of the group that will continue to play and support Day of Defeat:Source will now be known as the 801st. They will also have a new web site and revamped forums and they can be found at www.801st.org
They also have a new Day of Defeat:Source Public Server located in Washington DC.
The new server IP is 208.43.80.152:27015
Both groups will have strikingly similar values and server gameplay and will be striving to supply a good and hassle free gaming expierence for their respective communities.
Both groups will contine to frequent each others servers and forums.

The 907th is always looking for mature, bright, active and team oriented members for its ranks. We pride ourselves on being active in games and on our forums.
Think you have what it takes? First register for our forums HERE using the in-game name you play with! Next, enlist HERE! Make sure to use your in-game name for both the forum registration and application form with the code word.
And the most important piece of information on the application, the "invite code word": BILL
Recruitment into the 907th carries with it extraordinary benefits. More than 170 members of the 907th, grouped into 6 active companies (3 DOD:S, 2 COD4 and 1 European company playing both games!), not only enjoy their reserved slots for playing on our public servers, but also Guild wide fun nights, inter-company matches and scrims as well as Guild Wide themed DOD:S and COD4 series (Ever wonder what a several months long Day of Defeat Source or Call of Duty 4 version of the classic board game RISK would be like as an Axis or Allies soldier?) We also maintain an invite-only team in the SLDL League.
For information on what we are looking for...check the Recruitment Section of our forums.
Our friendly Officers will be glad to answer any questions that you may have both on our forums and on our servers. Look for the [907th] tags in their name to point you in the right direction!

March 4th: Operation Avalanche (September 1943) - dod_salerno, dod_avalanche, dod_lennon, dod_anzio
The Allied Invasion of Italy in September of 1943 by General Harold Alexander's 15th Army Group followed the successful invasion of Sicily. The main invasion force landed around Salerno on the western coast in Operation Avalanche. This campaign was pivotal for driving the Germans out of southern Italy. The maps chosen reflect similar terrain and settings for battles that may have occured during Operation Avalanche.
March 11th: Operation Overlord (June 1944 to August 1944) - dod_strand, dod_argentan, dod_dijon, dod_goodwood
Operation Overlord was the phase in the Western front of World War II that was fought in 1944 between German forces and the invading Allied forces. The campaign began with Normandy Landings on June 6, 1944 (commonly known as D-Day), among the largest amphibious assaults ever conducted with nearly three million troops crossed the English Channel and ended on August 25, 1944, with the liberation of Paris. The maps included represent actual battles/locations beginning with the invasion at Omaha beach and even battles in the towns of Argentan and Caen.
March 18th: Operation Market Garden (September 1944) - dod_santos_b1, dod_stug, dod_harrington, dod_ludendorff_b4
Operation Market Garden was an Allied military operation in World War II. Its tactical objectives were to secure a series of bridges over the main rivers of the German-occupied Netherlands by large-scale use of airborne forces together with a rapid advance by armored units along the connecting roads, for the strategic purpose of allowing an Allied crossing of the Rhine river, the last major natural barrier to an advance into Germany. Unfortunately, the Rhine remained a barrier to the Allied advance until the offensives at Remagen, Oppenheim, Rees and Wesel in March 1945. All the maps have bridges that represent the possible crossing of the Rhine, ending with the Battle at Remagen for the ludendorff bridge.
March 25th: Battle of the Bulge (December 1944 - January 1945) - dod_coldair, dod_colmar, dod_flurry_b2, dod_kalt
The Ardennes Offensive was a major German offensive on the Western Front and was launched towards the end of World War II. This offensive was called Unternehmen Wacht am Rhein (Operation Watch on the Rhine) by the German armed forces. It was officially named the Battle of the Ardennes by the U.S. Army, but it is known to the general public simply as the Battle of the Bulge. These maps represent the tough battles fought during the cold Winter in Western Europe.
Guaranteed to be a blast!
